I’m sure you’ve noticed how quickly things change in the online world of search engines, RSS and internet marketing. Whenever I mention a resource on the internet, you can click on the link I provide in the e-book and you’ll end up at the resource, regardless of whether its web address has changed since the last edition of the e-book. Remember Rok Hrastnik, the RSS marketing expert who wrote Unleash The Marketing And Publishing Power Of RSS and The Business Case For RSS last year?

You might remember from my free 2005 e-book, Who Else Needs The Hottest Publicity Machine On The Web Today? or All You Really Need To Know About RSS, that I pointed out that Microsoft might impose a few changes as they bulldoze their way into the RSS space…

In an article published today by Elizabeth Montalbano of IDG News Service, she states that Robert Scoble, a Microsoft technical evangelist and blogger, says that Microsoft has not made a final decision as to whether it would rename RSS in the final version of Internet Explorer 7 like it did in the beta version.

Will Microsoft rebrand RSS? Will they change the spec? Will every RSS feed be required to carry Microsoft banner advertising? We shall see. Stay tuned to this channel for the latest info. Montalbano quotes Scoble as saying “We’re just trying to be compliant with everyone here not do something evil.”
